Overview

As of Sept 1, 2023, Studio 21 Fine Art is changing ownership. Katzman Art Projects (katzmanartprojects.com) owned by Marianne Katzman will continue programming work from many of the same artists as Studio 21 and will introduce others at the gallery’s 5431 Doyle Street location. Meanwhile the former Director of Studio 21 Fine Art, Deborah Carver, will focus on her business partnership with Tracy Hain in Carver Hain Art + Design, providing original solutions in interior design and sourcing artworks for clients in UK, Europe and North America.

Since 2001, Marianne Katzman has served as a commercial gallery curator and manager, as well as an art consultant. She moved to the Halifax area during the pandemic. Most recently she was the owner and Director of Katzman Contemporary in Toronto and previously Katzman Kamen Gallery. Marianne maintains currency with the latest developments in the art world, both nationally and internationally, as well as recognizing up-and-coming artists. Her mandate is to promote brave ideas from Canadian artists, encourage the sale of experimental art and foster a new generation of collectors.

Studio 21 Fine Art has been a long standing and influential commercial gallery in Halifax that promoted Atlantic Canadian artists across Canada and internationally. Deborah Carver has been its owner and Director since 2011. Studio 21 Fine Art was founded in 1983 by Ineke Graham.

Carver Hain Art + Design (carverhain.com) was founded by Deborah Carver and Tracy Hain in 2022. Together Tracy and Deborah have many years of combined experience in transforming commercial and residential projects to become more impactful. They have selected art works and designed spaces all over the globe. Tracy owned a successful award-winning interior design and art curation business in London, England for almost two decades and recently moved to Nova Scotia. Her passion for beautiful, engaging and functional environments is visible in all her work. Tracy has degrees in Environmental design from OCAD University, Toronto and Business from University of Colorado, Boulder and certification in both paper and textile conservation.
